Contract employees who are under contract with Round Rock ISD for the current school year and wish to transfer to the same position at another location for the upcoming school year may submit a request for transfer during the annual transfer period.
Active employees in the following positions are eligible to request a transfer during this period:
- Teacher
- Teacher/Coach
- Librarian
- Counselor
- Athletic Trainer
- Assistant Principal

Eligibility for Internal Transfers:
The transfer application process is open to teachers, teacher-coaches, athletic trainers, assistant principals, counselors, educational assistants, and librarians.
Employees may only request a lateral transfer to the same category of position at another location. A lateral position is defined as the same category of position in the same pay grade family, service calendar, and job description (e.g. elementary counselor to elementary counselor; librarian to librarian; elementary teacher to middle school teacher).
Transfer Application Process:
Employees must complete an internal electronic application in the ESS System during the designated transfer period.
Each campus will have a transfer pool posting for each category (teachers, teacher-coaches, assistant principals, counselors, educational assistants, and librarians).
Access to the transfer process using the ESS System will open on March 24, 2025 (date postings will go live), and application access will close on May 2, 2025.
Steps to Apply For a Transfer:
- An employee who wishes to transfer, must:
- Log in to the ESS System and complete the online transfer application.
- Notify the employee’s current campus principal.
- Provide references – at least one must be from the employee’s principal.
Reference and Performance Requirements:
Employees who apply for a transfer must not have any documented performance concerns (i.e. Professional Growth Plans) within the current calendar school year. Exceptions to this may be made by the CHRO.
Transfer Decision Deadline:
The transfer recommendation window closes on May 23, 2025. After May 23, 2025, employees will not be able to seek a transfer to another campus for the 2025-26 school year.
Important Notes:
Applying for a transfer to another district campus by an employee will be without prejudice to the employee and will not jeopardize his or her current assignment.
