Substitute Opportunities

Round Rock ISD is an outstanding school district where children truly come first. Our district has thirty-four elementary schools, eleven middle schools, five high schools, and five unique programs (Early College High School, GOALS Learning Center, Round Rock Opportunity Center, Success, and Elementary Discipline Alternative Program). Our teachers and administrators are dedicated professionals who are committed to providing students the best possible education.

The daily rate for classroom substitutes is $85 per day. The half day rate for classroom substitutes is $42.50 per half day.

Also Needed

Substitute School Nurse (RN or LVN) with valid TX nursing license & CPR certification
Per diem- school term year
Licensed Vocational Nurse | Registered Nurse

How Do I Become a Substitute with Round Rock ISD?


The Substitute Office is currently accepting substitute  applications from applicants who have completed two years of study at an institution of high education, completed a formal substitute teaching preparation course, or have a combination of education and/or related work experience (i.e. day care, private school teaching, teaching assistant, etc) equivalent to two years. Interested applicants who meet the qualification requirements are encouraged to apply online.

Upon verification of qualifications, the Substitute Office will schedule an appointment with the applicant to submit required paperwork and complete the hiring process. Please note hiring is limited to applicants who meet one of the three qualification requirements at this time. Please also note an online application must be completed for consideration. The Round Rock ISD Substitute Office is currently notifying interested applicants of an exciting opportunity. Tutors for Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Learning System are needed to facilitate small group tutoring sessions, using specific AVID tutoring methods. Tutors earn $10 per hour and can work between one and five hours per session.  If you are interested in obtaining more information about the requirements to become an AVID tutor, contact Kelly Martin (512) 464-4156

Note: Substitute Teachers must be at least 21 years of age to be eligible for high school assignments.
