International teachers help us deliver our commitment to fostering a culturally rich and diverse educational environment and contribute to our mission of academic excellence while experiencing life in the United States.
Visa Information – We do not offer H1B visas and does not sponsor our own J1 visas. Instead, we collaborate with three approved TEA VIT sponsors to facilitate the process.
Stipends and Financial Support
Round Rock ISD values the contributions of our visiting international teachers and offers a $3,000 stipend to support your transition and experience.
We provide extra stipends for teachers in dual language, Spanish, and Math positions, recognizing the specialized skills and expertise these roles require.
Approved TEA VIT Sponsors
Texas-Spain Visiting International Teacher Program (Region 13) – This cultural exchange program aims to promote intercultural understanding between the United States and Spain, encouraging citizens from both countries to appreciate and share each other’s cultures.
The VIT program enables Texas school districts to recruit experienced educators from Spain to teach in bilingual and dual language classrooms throughout the state.
While teaching in Texas, these Spanish educators gain valuable insights into the American educational system and are expected to apply their newly acquired pedagogical skills and methodologies when they return to Spain.
This program is made possible by the collaboration between The Spanish Ministry of Education, The Educational Service Center Region 13, and The Department of State. ESC Region 13 serves as the program sponsor on behalf of the Department of State (DoS).
J1X is a leading, state-designated J-1 visa sponsor. They provide participants with all the tools and assistance they need to explore the American culture, work as a teacher, participate in top training programs, or get an internship in the US.
Mentorship and Support
Each Visiting International Teacher is assigned a mentor who:
- Provides instructional guidance and support.
- Assists with community acclimation, including household management and life skills.
- Maintains regular contact with the teacher.
In addition to mentors, the District HR Liaison is available to offer further assistance and resources. Round Rock ISD is dedicated to supporting all our teachers with professional development, mentorship programs, and a welcoming community.
