Round Rock ISD offers employees disability insurance, which will help protect your paycheck and standard of living if you become disabled and unable to work for a continuous period of time. Disability benefits may be received in conjunction with any sick, personal and/or extended leave benefits.
People under the age of 60 years are three times more likely to become disabled than to die. In fact, more that 50 Americans become disabled every minute. Half of all home foreclosures result from an interruption of the primary breadwinner’s paycheck due to disability. Disability insurance can help provide income you and your family need while you are unable to work.
Round Rock ISD has chosen Sun Life to offer disability plan options for district employees. Sun Life’s plans integrate short- and long-term benefits, varying according to the plan option selected. The most successful disability plans provide the most equitable benefits possible, while also maintaining the highest possibility of rehabilitation and return to work.
Whenever it is appropriate, Round Rock ISD will develop an individualized program to help get you back on the job as soon as it is medically safe to do so. By doing so, the District helps you get back to your full salary and your contributions to the workplace.
Disability insurance can cover:
Disabling injury
Maternity leave
Surgery recovery
Disabling illness
Heart attack recovery
Cancer recovery
Stroke recovery
