Preventive health care is self-care

Usually, you hear people using the term self-care as a tactic to overcome fatigue or negativity. Digital overload, traffic, financial stresses, family, and work demands are all valid reasons for a person to unplug and disengage occasionally.

But have you considered preventive healthcare as self-care? Taking care of your health is self-care in its most accurate form. And you owe it to yourself to take care of your health. An excellent place to start is by scheduling your yearly preventive health care exam.

In-person or telehealth preventive exams with your doctor can help you catch problems early when, generally, symptoms are easier to treat. And if taking care of your health isn’t motivation enough, regular check-ups may lower your long-term healthcare costs.

At your annual exam, talk with your doctor if you’re experiencing any changes in your health, and ask about the screenings you should have for your age group or health history. Together, you and your doctor can set specific health goals to keep you feeling good and financially fit.
