It’s Career and Technical Education Month, so let’s get to know CTE Specialist Gloria Evans.
Gloria supports CTE teachers across the District who teach business/marketing/finance, audio visual production, automotive, drone aviation, health science and work based learning. Gloria’s teacher support ranges from assisting with curriculum resources, certifications, onboarding or just being a listening ear.
Gloria has worked in the District since 2004. She started as a business/marketing teacher, then as a campus academy specialist. The position has evolved into a District CTE specialist.
Both of Gloria’s children attended elementary through high school in the District and graduated from McNeil High School. Now that she’s an empty nester, her time outside of work is spent with her husband, doing church activities and dog-sitting her grand-dog.
The next time you happen across U.S. Currency printed between 1977 through 1981, look for the name “Azie Taylor Morton” near the bottom left side. She’s Gloria’s cousin! Morton served as Treasurer of the United States during the Carter administration from September 12, 1977, to January 20, 1981. Her signature was printed on all U.S. currency during her tenure.
And, the next time you make your way to Zilker Park, look for Azie Morton Road. It is located just off of Barton Springs Road.
