Round Rock ISD Trustees approve Juneteenth as district holiday

During the March Regular Board Meeting, trustees approved a resolution to observe Juneteenth—June 19—as an official district holiday.

The resolution honors the importance of Juneteenth National Independence Day to our nation and to many members of our community.

The 2024–25 calendar will be updated with Thursday, June 19, as a districtwide closure in observance of this federal holiday.

All eligible staff scheduled to work on June 19, 2025, will receive one day of additional paid leave based on the following eligibility requirements:

  • The employee is employed by the district in a regular, part- or full-time position on June 19, 2025;
  • The employee must be in an active status on June 19, 2025;
  • An employee hired after June 19, 2025, is not eligible to receive the additional leave day;
  • There is no additional compensation attached to the additional leave day, and leave days not used on June 19, 2025, will not be eligible to be considered for pay;
  • Leave days associated with June 19, 2025, will not renew beyond the 2024–25 school year. Any associated leave not used will be removed from employee leave banks after the 2024-25 school year and will not carry forward.
  • Employees who are approved to work on June 19, 2025, are only approved to do so by the superintendent or designee and will be compensated at the same rate as for district closures.
