Round Rock ISD’s enrollment officially surpassed 47,000 students on Oct. 25, and now approximately 6,400 eligible employees will receive a retention bonus in December.
As part of the district’s 2024–25 compensation plan, eligible staff—including teachers, bus drivers, custodial staff, nurses, and maintenance staff—would receive a one-time $500 retention bonus in their December 2024 paycheck if enrollment met or exceeded 47,000 students on what’s known as enrollment “snapshot day.”
“Thanks to our growing enrollment, we can award these well-deserved retention bonuses to our dedicated staff,” said Dr. Hafedh Azaiez, Superintendent of Schools. “Our team’s hard work and commitment to our students is the foundation of our success, and I’m proud that we can show our appreciation in this meaningful way.”
The Public Education Information Management System Fall snapshot, which occurs on the last Friday in October, is when districts report student enrollment and staff data to the Texas Education Agency.
As part of the district’s compensation plan, a second one-time bonus of $500 will be awarded in April 2025 to eligible staff if enrollment reaches 47,500 or more by the PEIMS Winter snapshot, taken on the last Friday in February.
The incentive can also help support the District’s recruitment efforts, in that any eligible employees hired through Nov. 30 will also receive the incentive.
Chief Human Resources Officer Eddie Curran echoed the superintendent’s excitement and expressed optimism about the next bonus.
He said the district is actively working to boost enrollment through several initiatives.
“We’re hopeful that with continued efforts, we can reach the next milestone and provide even more support to our staff,” he said.
Because state funding is tied to enrollment, increasing student numbers helps the district balance the budget and reinvest in its employees. The estimated cost of each retention bonus is $3.3 million.
The 2024-25 compensation plan was approved by the Board of Trustees at its regular April 2024 board meeting.
