Georgia Miller serves as the Executive Assistant for the Superintendent of Schools.
Georgia and her husband moved their family to Round Rock in 1999 because of the great schools and the small town feel Round Rock still had at that time. Georgia’s first day of work at Round Rock ISD came quickly afterwards – on January 3, 2000 – her wedding anniversary.
All four of Georgia’s children graduated from McNeil high school. Her daughter, Rebekah, still holds some track and field top ten records. Georgia’s parents and sisters have continued to be a part of the Round Rock ISD community since the mid 1980’s. Her sister, Elizabeth Hovis, was a Round Rock HS cheerleader and taught elementary physical education in the District. Her niece recently became a Dragonette.
When not in the garden, Georgia enjoys watercoloring and photography. She and her husband are also huge Aggie fans. Georgia is awaiting the arrival of her second grand baby in April.
Georgia had interesting run ins with both Bob Hope and Lady Bird Johnson at previous jobs.
In 1982, Bob Hope came to UT for the Stars of Texas special. I worked in the Fine Arts department and would go over to the PAC during rehearsals. I was standing in the doorway when someone touched my shoulder and very nicely said “Hunny, could you step aside? I need to get up on stage.” I was shocked when I realized it was Mr. Hope himself. He and Jack Lemmon were both so sweet and kind over the 2 or 3 days they were on campus.
The University of Texas hosted the Texas Sesquicentennial Celebration, where I was a VIP hostess, assisting with the needs of our then living governors (Allan Shivers, John Connally, Bill Clements, Dolph Briscoe, Mark White) and Lady Bird Johnson. I laugh now, but Lady Bird asked me to hold her pocket book as the group was going on stage from a side room. After the room was empty, one of her secret service agents came over and said you don’t have to hold it, just put it under the chair…Ask me sometime about what was in her pocket book….you’ll never guess!
